QlikView

Guided analytics apps for business insight

4.3/5 (52 reviews)

QlikView Overview

QlikView is a business discovery platform which delivers self-service BI and insights by providing teams with the tools to build guided analytics applications. With the aim of helping businesses to combine and evaluate data sets in order to spot trends and gain business insight, QlikView provides tools such as data visualization, graphical data views, geographic maps, drag and drop data selection, dashboard creation, and more.

The enterprise-ready solution gives management complete control over security, user permissions, and scalability, meaning businesses can visualize and interact with data in a way that works for them. With QlikView, users can create and customize dynamic drill pads, dashboards, and reports in order to analyze their relevant business data. The associative QlikView experience allows users to focus on the most relevant information with filtering and drag and drop selection of specific data groups or categories. For added clarity, categories are highlighted green once they are selected for analysis, with related data shown in white and unrelated data greyed out.

With the aim of helping businesses to discover unexpected insights and identify issues sooner, QlikView facilitates comparative analysis meaning users can analyze multiple data sets side by side. The comparative analysis tool is designed to help businesses spot trends or outliers easily on graphs or tables, and any inconsistencies can be explored further.

Dashboards can be created with custom insights and reports, and users can mix and match visualizations, including custom visualizations, to help see data in a new way. Dashboards can be shared with colleagues via email, with notes and annotations for context, and collaborators can be invited via email, SMS, or IM with synchronous editing and discussion features.

One of the best Enterprise BI tools on the market

There are lots (and I mean lots) of BI tools of the market but Qlik is one of the best (if not the best). Here is why I think it is the best enterprise BI tool (compared to other enterprise BI tools -- SAP BO, Tableau, SAS, Cognos)

- It has its own ETL. Really no other tool is needed to use Qlik View. Easy to extract and transform data before using it in data model.
- Super fast -- want to see 100's of millions of rows presented very quickly. Done.
- Flexible data modeling. For example, you can achieve huge performance improvements with simple data model changes.
- Qlik's secret sauce -- associative model -- quickly and visually see data that is selected, possible, and unrelated. By selecting some data, you can see if all other data is (selected), is possible (associated) or completely unrelated located anywhere in the data model.
- Automatically web enabled.
- Save space. Compressed data in QVD tables are 10x smaller.

 BI made easy

QlikView has made our data reporting lives so much easier. Without an intensive implementation period we were able to get up and running and designing our own views. The interface is really clean and there is a great support community online.
