Urenstaten en stopwatches kunnen redelijk goed werken, maar voordat je het weet ben je alweer vergeten je urenstaten in te vullen of je uren in te voeren op de computer. Dat is waar Chrometa het verschil kan maken: automatisch elke seconde van je declarabele tijd vastleggen zonder inspanning of gegevensinvoer van jouw kant. De "magie" van Chrometa is dat het op de achtergrond van je pc en/of Mac wordt uitgevoerd en in stilte je activiteiten noteert. Het is alsof je je eigen persoonlijke tijdwaarnemer hebt. Wanneer je een e-mail opent of opstelt, legt Chrometa die activiteit vast. Hetzelfde voor documenten die je opstelt, webonderzoek dat je doet, en zelfs telefoon- en vergadertijd: alles wordt passief vastgelegd zonder dat jij een vinger hoeft uit te steken. The initial one hour orientation by phone with human was top quality. Integration with CLIO worked well. > > **Minpunten**: The desktop app is poor. It freezes and stops recording time without any notification that it has stopped working, though this happens less frequently if you regularly restart windows. Time recorded on the desktop app uploads once per hour, and the app's "Upload Now" function stopped working in 2017, and has not been fixed. This means you cannot annotate your time description when you finish a task; you have to wait an hour before you can categorize and annotate your time descriptions. Live support during business hours was cancelled. Integration with Quickbooks Online works for downloading customers from QBO, but not for uploading time. Chrometa \& QBO support staff blamed each other. New interface is hard to read: too many font colours, and not enough white space. When I started using Chrometa the new interface was already out, but I switched to their legacy interface because it was easier on the eyes, even though the old interface lacks features that are only available in the new interface. > > I've compared Chrometa to several other passive time tracking systems: Timetracker by Openhour, Timely, Time Camp, and a couple others... Other systems are more suited to monitoring employee productivity than tracking billable time. Chrometa is still the best passive time tracking system if you are looking to track and bill for hourly work. Especially if you are using CLIO. Chrometa tracks everything I do on all my work-related computers and devices. When I work on my laptop, I can later be on my desktop viewing Chrometa. There, it'll show the time I spent on my laptop by activity or a summary for each device. Sometimes I get wrapped up in what I'm doing that I'd forget to note the time when I start doing work for a client. Chrometa saves my behind as it shows the time I started. I've tried timers, but ended up forgetting to turn them on or off. I've yet to find anything that works better than this. I went to look up how long I've been using Chrometa. It's been seven years\!
