The ease at which the reports can be run and downloaded is very good. The extraction can be done in both pdf and excel depending on the requirement. The reports which have been run also show the specifications used in the reporting for the approver to verify.

The scheduler is not very simple and might require some user guide to understand and schedule the reports. Also, the inbox reports tend to disappear at times and then have to be re-put in inbox.

The system is able to interface and pull data from a very wide variety of data sources once configured and setup. The reports that come out from the system are very customization and the end users seem able to learn to write them fairly easily.

The amount of updates and complications of installing, configuring and getting the servers up and running can be time consuming. Updates are also a very tedious process ... these are all normal with a software package this large. The most end-user complaint would be the size of the PDF files, they can be quite large depending on the contents of the reports, which can quickly fill up an inbox.

SAP is a very powerful business tool. I can't speak to some of the features, but after getting it setup, it is awesome for using as a ticketing system. It makes it easy to track both completed and non-completed tickets. My favorite thing about SAP is that it allows you to seamlessly track inventory. It can also be used to move inventory around depending on how it is setup. I also love how everything can be simply exported from SAP into Excel.

There is a bit of a learning curve for this software. It does take a while to get use to using.

SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence connects seamlessly with SAP backend. It can connect very well to SAP BW, SAP ECC etc which is always a challenge for other non SAP tools.

Connecting to Non SAP databases need some additional efforts.

Business Objects has many capabilities, for me, the ease of publication of reports is the most important.

SAP is a large company, if you work for a relatively small company (700 people), then you have to go through a partner. The quality of these partners varies.

Due to re-planning of tasks , targets would be change in the operation. Follow up of changes and tracking of trend must be more visible with reasons why target is changed and until when old target was valid.

For an SAP environment, this is best tool for reporting, since it can be connected effectively with SAP

The connectivity of this tool with non SAP tools is not straight forward or simple

Ease of use and fast in generating reports

Refresh time needs to be improved particularly to fix issues or errors

Practicality in generating reports and the possibility of using larg volumes of data

Sometimes it takes a long time to generate the bases

I love most everything about BusinessObjects. It's a great way for our employees to self-service in many cases as previously they had no way to get access to larger data sets unless they put in a request with analytics. But now our Directors have access to data and reports at their fingertips with minimal training (they don't need an in-depth understanding of databases or SQL queries to use the software).

A con that is worth mentioning is that exporting large data sets can be a bit slow. But the ease of use and other benefits definitely outweigh that.

The speed and ease of using SAP BI in c comfortable format (we use the Excel Inrerface)

Sometime a pre-existing BI report does blow up and it leaves the report without a connection to BI. Report has to be recreated - no recovery.

The overall architecture of BO XI (with UDT v14.2.7.3130) is intuitive to understand. Most of my experience, however, has been using it with derived tables for more flexibility in the clinical trial space. This is one of the features that I like because it allows me to not only deliver custom reports but also standardized reports that integrate data from different sources.

I think that BO's lack of OLAP functionality could use some beefing up. In my company, it's usually BO, Spotfire or Tableau that are used for reporting. If BO had OLAP capabilities, processes within the company that rely heavily on other tools may also change to account for that.

We use SAP Business Objects in conjunction with Crystal Reports to provide web based links for our employees to run on their own within the constraints of the parameters. I like that it is easy to navigate and sort by file name. The organization of information is clear and straightforward and it is easy to customize how you want to see things.

I wish there were options to add certain columns to your view. For example if I want to sort by name or last update, I can, no problem. But if i want to get any details on frequency or last time a user ran a report, i have to either go into the settings or run a report.

SAP BusinessObjects is a wide collection of softwares that businesses can use to handle different functions such as reporting, business analytics, forecasting, etc.

Based on my experience, the softwares are easy to use with interactive graphical user interface. Also, with its point and click functionality, new users can easily familiarize with the system. In addition, the ability to customize the system for more advanced users is absolutely commendable. Few systems are flexible enough like SAP BusinessObjects. The integration of SQL Database Management makes it easier for more advanced users to customize the system according to the company's needs and demands.

Since the software is mostly Window-based, computers using other programming language might have some difficulty in using the system. The wide variety of functionality also makes it a little bit confusing with new users especially those with no knowledge of SQL syntax.

SAP Business objects is great for storage, creation, and reports sharing. It allows us to use real time business data and prepare reports from real time data for making business major decisions.
Reports creation could be difficult for the beginners, since there is a long learning curve to master all it´s functionalities. But once you´re there, you realized how powerful this tool is.

SAP support service is not the best in my opinion. Long response times, and sometimes they don´t offer effective solutions to our problems.

You can accomplish a lot with this tool. The use of universes connecting the tables is powerful. I also love the ability to set up email instances of reports - it’s always helpful when a software can do a routine task for you.

There have been some weird quarks in BO 4.0. Changes that we’ve made to a report will work one day and not the next. It’s not very friendly for someone who wants to do ad hoc analytical reporting.

Once you know how to utilize the system, the data and information you can obtain and reports that you can set up are endless

Very challenging for non-accounting minded folks to understand, difficult for beginners to use without lots of support, customer service is non-existent

This is an Awesome platform to store information. It's easy to use and straightforward, and has information displayed very clearly which helps save lots of time when analyzing information.

This program often crashes or runs very slowly. Its frustrating at times because as we're trying the work, often times i cannot meet my objectives because the client becomes impatient and leaves.

I liked that it could be embedded with single sign on with a transactional application in a SaaS environment. This enables companies to build the software they have domain knowledge in and take advantage of reporting capabilities that tools like Business Objects has.

It can sometimes be difficult to work through navigation issues when embedding the software. It requires someone to understand how to get into the toolkit, which has a learning curve.

facilitates self service and is user friendly to write queries with basic training of users thereby reducing reliance on central IT. Also data can be exported to excel/pdf etc.

This product works well when there is a data warehouse and data is regularly uploaded to the data warehouse so that users can write query and generate data from the query.

Love how quick and easy it is to use this program . A lot of our major software programs are SAP based and very user friendly

sometimes the layout of things was a little confusing or too cluttered for my taste. i would probably change the layout

SAP BusinessObjects allows the company to integrate with external systems, such as SIMS Claims and Microsoft Office and combine data from these for business analytics and reporting functions. There is a drag-and-drop interface which allows you to create custom reports using the perimeters you want.

The drag-and-drop interface is sometimes difficult to use especially when working with a large amount of data. Once you use this program more, it seems to get easier to use.
